Blessing of Automobles, Bicycles, Cars, Motorcycles, SUV, Trucks, and other Means of Transportation

Text Number 1 in English from Byzantine Melkite Euchologion. Translation by Rev./Abouna Joseph Haggar from the Greek Euchologican, Roman Edition, 1954 and 1955 and adapated to the Arabic Euchologicon approved by the Holy Synod on May 3rd, 1968. Rev./Abouna Joseph Haggar was a priest/Abouna of the the Eparchy of Newton (Our Lady of the Annunciation (Al Bisharah) in Roslindale, MA), United States.

Priest / Deacon: Let us pray to the Lord.

Response: Lord, have mercy.

Priest: Lord our God, You make the clouds your conveyance; You travel on the wings of the wind; You sent to your servant Elijah a fiery chariot as a means of conveyance; You guided man to invent this car which is as fast as the wind: Therefore, O Lord, pour now upon it your heavenly blessings. Grant unto it a guardian angel that it may be guided upon the rightful road and be preserved against all harm. Enable those who ride in this car to arrive safely at their destination. For in your ineffable Providence, You are the Provider of all things, and to You we give glory, to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always and for ever and ever. Amen.

The priest sprinkles the car three times with holy water, each time saying:

May this car be blessed + in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Deacon: Let us pray to the Lord

People: Lord have mercy

Priest: O Lord our God, You make the clouds your chariot. You ride on the wings of the wind. You sent to your servant Elias a fiery chariot to carry him up to heaven. You guided man to invent amazing means of transportation.
Therefore, O Lord, we humbly ask You to bless our cars. Send to their drivers Guardian Angels to guide them and to protect them from all harm.
Make them arrive safely to their destination through the intercession of Our Lady of Guidance and St. Elias-the-Living and all your saints. For in your ineffable Providence, You are the Provider of all good things and to You we render glory, thanksgiving and worship, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, now and always and forever and ever.

People: Amen

The priest sprinkles each car with Holy Water saying:
May this car be blessed in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

O God of all spirits and of all flesh, who have destroyed death, overcome the devil, and given life to the world: grant, O Lord, to the souls of your servants Bucky and Shirley, who has departed from this life, that it may rest in a place of light, in a place of happiness, in a place of peace, where there is no pain, no grief, no sighing. And since You are a gracious God and the Lover of Mankind, forgive him/her every sin he/she has committed by thought, or word, or deed, for there is not a man who lives and does not sin : You alone are without sin, your righteousness is everlasting, and your word is true. You are the Resurrection and the Life, and the repose of your departed servants Bucky and Shirley. O Christ our God, and we send up glory to You, together with your eternal Father and your all-holy, good and life-giving Spirit, now and always and for ages upon ages. Amen.
